TOP-25 FINISH FOR KVAPIL AT DARLINGTON RACEWAY

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | Bojangles' Southern 500

Race 11 of 36 | Darlington Raceway | Saturday, May 11, 2013

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 13, 2013) - Travis Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry finished 23rd at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Saturday afternoon.  In the 64th annual Bojangles' Southern 500, and at one of NASCAR's toughest tracks, Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper team were able to put on one of their strongest performances of the season to bring home their third top 25 finish of 2013.

Known for its unforgiving nature, Darlington Raceway coined the nickname "The Lady in Black" from drivers who endured its tough mental and physical demands.  Kvapil and his BK Racing team worked hard to prepare for all the challenges the unique 1.366-mile track typically presents.  The group posted over 40 laps during Friday's two practice sessions, ranking 30th and 16th on the speed chart, respectively.  During time trials on Friday night, Kvapil went on to secure the 28th starting position for the 367-lap race.

With the race scheduled to transition into the night, competitors in the Sprint Cup Series expected the race track to "loosen up" as the night progressed.  As a result, the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper team started the race with a set up that was slightly tight to enable them to adjust the balance of their car throughout the evening.  The crew worked on their Toyota Camry during each pit stop, and had the car handling to Kvapil's liking by the midpoint of the race.  Kvapil raced a steady and competitive race throughout the 500 miles at Darlington Raceway, carefully avoiding the notorious "Darlington stripe," and went on to finish the 64th annual Southern 500 without incident.  When the checkered flag waved, Kvapil was scored in the 23rd position.

"Our No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry was really strong this weekend," commented Kvapil.  "The team did a great job preparing the car before we got to the track, and then adjusting on it all weekend.  It's always nice when you can bring home a solid finish that reflects all the hard work and dedication that your team put into the race weekend.  I'm excited to get to Charlotte Motor Speedway next week for the Sprint Showdown and the Coca-Cola 600 the following week.  We get a lot of track time to try different things, and ultimately get ready for the 600 over Memorial Day weekend.  It's nice to race at "home" where all of our family and friends-and our crews' families too-can come be a part of the action."

With many of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series organizations based in Charlotte, N.C. region, the teams in the highest level of stock car racing will compete in their own backyard at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway for the next two weeks.  The Sprint Showdown and Sprint All-Star Race, both exhibition events, will take place on Saturday, May 18.  Fans can tune in on SPEED on Friday afternoon for practice (12 p.m. EDT and 1:30 p.m. EDT) and qualifying (5 p.m. EDT and 6 p.m. EDT) for the two events.  Live coverage of the Sprint Showdown and Sprint All-Star Race will air on SPEED, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio beginning at 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 18.  As always, fans can visit BKRacing.com, twitter.com/bkracing8393 or facebook.com/bkracing8393 for the latest news and updates about Travis Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry team.

REUTIMANN FINISHES 36TH AT "THE LADY IN BLACK"

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | Bojangles' Southern 500

Race 11 of 36 | Darlington Raceway | Saturday, May 11, 2013

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 13, 2013) - David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper team finished 36th at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Saturday night.  After racing inside the top 25 most of the night, Reutimann got caught up in an accident with less than 40 laps remaining in the 64th annual Bojangles' Southern 500.

Darlington Raceway, nicknamed "The Lady in Black," has earned its nickname for being both physically and mentally demanding on drivers, as well as its unforgiving nature.  Recognized as one of the toughest races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' 36-race schedule, teams work hard to prepare for 500 miles at the South Carolina speedway.  The No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper team was no different logging over 50 laps in the two practice sessions on Friday afternoon.  Reutimann secured the 33rd starting position for Saturday night's race, and the team knew they would need to stay focused and avoid earning the infamous "Darlington stripe."

When the green flag waved, the BK Racing team found the set up on the No. 83 Camry to be a bit too loose.  The Burger King / Dr. Pepper team worked carefully during each pit stop to adjust the balance of their Toyota, and dial in the car as Reutimann needed.  By the third run of the night, Reutimann was very happy with his car and picking up positions on the track.  Solidly racing inside the top 25, the BK Racing team felt they were headed for a solid finish.  However, with less than 40 laps remaining in the 64th annual Southern 500, Reutimann got caught up in a wreck entering turn one.  Another competitor lost control of their car entering the corner and slid up the track directly in front of Reutimann.  Without any time to react or room to escape, Reutimann drove into the other competitor and sustained race-ending damage to the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota.  When the checkered flag waved, Reutimann was credited with a 36th-place finish.

"I can't thank my Burger King / Dr. Pepper team enough for all the hard work they put into preparing for Darlington Raceway this weekend," commented Reutimann.  "They built a great Toyota Camry and did a great job on pit road all night.  It's really unfortunate that we were caught up in that wreck, but there was nothing I could do to avoid it.  I'm really looking forward to getting to Charlotte Motor Speedway this week, and I'm looking forward to starting our preparation for the Coca-Cola 600 two weeks from now.  Our intermediate track program keeps getting better week after week, and I'm looking forward to putting it to the test over the next two weeks."

With many of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series organizations based in Charlotte, N.C. region, the teams in the highest level of stock car racing will compete in their own backyard at Charlotte (N.C.) REUTIMANN INVOLVED IN ‘THE BIG ONE’ AT TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | Aaron’s 499

Race 10 of 36 | Talladega Superspeedway | Sunday, May 5, 2013

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 7, 2013) – David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota team finished 41st at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon after being involved in “the big one” on lap 42. Involved in the accident entering turn one, Reutimann’s Camry suffered extensive damage and the BK Racing team was forced to retire from the Aaron’s 499.

Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota team knew they were facing a challenging weekend when they looked at the weather forecast for Talladega, Ala. The team realized there was a realistic chance that qualifying would be cancelled and the field would be set by the first practice session. As a result, all 44 teams attempting to make the race worked hard to post a fast lap in the 45-minute practice. As expected, qualifying was cancelled on Saturday afternoon and Reutimann was slated to start the 188-lap race from the 35th position.

At a track where anything can happen, the BK Racing team worked hard throughout the weekend to make sure their No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota would race well in the draft. As the green flag waved, Reutimann was able to quickly move toward the front of the field and raced inside the top 10. With a fast car, the BK Racing team knew their biggest challenge would be running a clean race.

As two competitors touched exiting the tri-oval on lap 42, chaos ensued at the front of the field. With cars sent spinning across the track, drivers scrambled to avoid the mayhem. Running in the upper groove and nearly clear of the incident, Reutimann’s rear quarter panel was tagged by a car sliding up the race surface. The contact sent Reutimann sideways and caused the right rear of the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Camry to make contact with the outside retaining wall before sliding down the track to sustain additional damage to the front end of his car. Reutimann was able to drive the No. 83 Toyota into the garage and the BK Racing team worked diligently to repair their Camry. As the team assessed their car, they noticed damage to the engine of the Burger King / Dr. Pepper machine, which forced them to retire from the event.

“I’m really disappointed that we got caught up in an accident this afternoon,” commented Reutimann. “We almost cleared the accident, but I got turned around at the last second and at that point there was nothing I could do. Our No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry was a really strong car; I had guys willing to work with me and I was able to run wherever I needed. Unfortunately, we got caught up in the product of superspeedway racing. I’m looking forward to rebounding next weekend at Darlington Raceway.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will make its annual trip to the historic Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Saturday, May 11. Fans can tune in on SPEED on Friday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. EDT for practice from the legendary speedway. Qualifying to set the 43-car field will be held on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on SPEED. Live coverage of the Bojangles’ Southern 500 will air on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 6:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 11. As always, fans can visit BKRacing.com, twitter.com/bkracing8393 or facebook.com/bkracing8393 for the latest news and updates about David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry team.

CONTACT REMOVES KVAPIL FROM CONTENTION AT TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | Aaron’s 499

Race 10 of 36 | Talladega Superspeedway | Sunday, May 5, 2013

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 7, 2013) – Travis Kvapil and the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry finished 38th at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon after sustaining damage during a lap 20 incident. Racing in the top 15 and battling hard for position in the draft, Kvapil made slight contact with another competitor with the right front of his car. The impact ultimately caused a flat tire on the No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry and required the team to repair the front end of their Toyota, resulting in a 38th-place finish at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

During a weekend plagued with rain, competitors in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series had several obstacles to overcome when strategizing for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499. Realizing that qualifying could be cancelled, teams attempted to post their best lap during the opening practice on Friday afternoon, as that session would set the starting order for Sunday’s 188-lap race. As expected, rain soaked Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday afternoon to cancel qualifying and secure Kvapil the 32nd starting position for Sunday’s main event.

Despite starting mid-pack, Kvapil and the BK Racing team knew they had a car that would perform well in the draft. Kvapil felt comfortable knowing he had a fast car capable of moving through the field and picking up positions. Within the opening 15 laps, Kvapil was securely inside the top 15 and looked as though he would continue his charge to the front of the field.

Racing three-wide around lap 20, Kvapil’s right front made contact with another competitor running in the upper groove to cause damage to the fender and the right front tire to go flat. Initially, Kvapil pulled his No. 93 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Camry down pit road for repairs, but later when the damage proved to be more extensive, the team was forced to the garage to repair the front end of their Toyota. No longer in contention for the win, Kvapil returned to the track to log laps and pick up as many points as possible in the 500-mile race. As the checkered flag waved, Kvapil was scored in the 38th position.

“We had a really strong car this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway,” commented Kvapil. “Our Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry ran really well in the draft, and if we would’ve been able to stay out of trouble, I’m certain we would’ve had a strong finish. Superspeedway races are always tough because you never know what’s going to happen, but that’s part of the fan appeal. I’m looking forward to putting this week behind me and getting back in the car next weekend at Darlington Raceway. There’s so much history at that track, and it means a lot to me to be able to race there.”

REUTIMANN MOVES UP TWO POSITIONS IN SPRINT CUP SERIES OWNER POINT STANDINGS

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series | Toyota Owners 400 Race Report

Race 9 of 36 | Richmond International Raceway | Saturday, April 27, 2013

David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger
King / Dr. Pepper Toyota in Richmond

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (April 30, 2013) - David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota team came home 22nd on Saturday night at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in one of their best performances of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.  The team fought hard all night to move up in the running order, and ultimately gained two positions in the championship owner point standings.

Throughout the race weekend, Reutimann and the No. 83 BK Racing team worked hard making changes to their Camry and picked up nearly two seconds from opening practice to secure the 22nd starting position for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Racing into the night, the team had to leave room to adjust the handling of their No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Camry as the race progressed on Saturday night.  With the race scheduled to include 400 laps and at least seven pit stops, the BK Racing team knew they had plenty of time to work on their car.  When Reutimann called in to report a tight condition early in the race, the team devised a plan to loosen the handling and continued to make adjustments during each pit stop.  With every adjustment the car got better and better, and by the end of the event, the balance of the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota was the best it had been all weekend.  With a green-white-checkered finish extending the race to 406 laps, Reutimann crossed the finish line in the 22nd position.

"I'm really proud of the effort by our Burger King / Dr. Pepper team this week," commented Reutimann.  "The guys worked throughout practice to get the car turning and handling the way I needed it to, and we were able to put together our best qualifying effort of the season.  Like I said last week, everyone has been working really hard--to be able to avoid any bad luck and just have a strong finish on the lead lap is the kind of positive momentum that we need.

"I'm ready to get back to superspeedway racing next weekend," Reutimann continued.  "Our best finish of the season came at Daytona International Speedway.  The guys built a strong car that I think will be capable of running up front, so I'm excited to get to Talladega Superspeedway in just a few days."

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will make its return to superspeedway racing at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday, May 5.  Fans can tune in on SPEED on Friday, May 4 at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. EDT for practice from the 2.66-mile superspeedway.  Qualifying to set the 43-car field will be held on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on SPEED.  Live coverage of the Aaron's 499 will air on FOX, MRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday, May 5.  As always, fans can visit BKRacing.com, twitter.com/bkracing8393 or facebook.com/bkracing8393 for the latest news and updates about David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry team.
